Trent Park is on Cockfosters Road in Enfield, Greater London, and has entrances on Cockfosters Road and Hadley Road.

If you’re driving, the Friends of Trent Country Park lists two Council car parks at the Cockfosters Road entrance and woodland parking accessed from Hadley Road. Council car-park parking is free, and the Cockfosters Road car park has designated disabled parking spaces.

For public transport, walks from Cockfosters station and Oakwood station lead into the park. The walk from Cockfosters is about 10 minutes via Cockfosters Road; from Oakwood it’s about 15 minutes via Snakes Lane, which has steep sections. Oakwood bus routes are 121, 307 and 377; routes 298, 299 and 384 serve Cockfosters.

Use the Cockfosters Road entrance for the main car parks. The Friends warns that the postcode EN4 0PS leads to an entrance that is closed to the public.

There is no public car access via Snakes Lane, and parking at its end is not for public use, though pedestrians and cyclists can use the lane. Trent Park is among the parks in Enfield with walking routes and woodland.

What can you see across the park grounds?

What can you see across the park grounds?

Trent Park’s grounds combine open green space with historic landscape features and places to pause along the way. The park covers 413 acres and forms part of London’s Green Belt. Its features include an avenue of lime trees, two lakes, Camlet Moat, three memorials and two water towers.

The landscape was part of the former Enfield Chase royal hunting forest. Humphry Repton designed its landscape, and the Greater London Council opened the country park to the public in 1973. For another stop with local history, you can pair a park visit with a day in Enfield.

The avenue of lime trees leads to a charity-run animal sanctuary. The park also has a hockey club, golf club, equestrian centre and Go Ape tree-top adventure. These are distinct activities from a walk through the grounds, so check with the relevant operator for details before planning around them.

Which walking and cycling routes can you take?

Which walking and cycling routes can you take?

The London Loop passes through Trent Park, making the grounds part of a longer walking route. Within the park, the paths are mainly for walkers and cyclists. You can also choose the 2 km cycle trail through the meadows or the 4.25 km woodland riding circuit, which is accessible from the Hadley Road entrance.

For a walk beginning at a station, routes lead from Cockfosters station via Cockfosters Road and from Oakwood station via Snakes Lane. The Oakwood approach has steep sections, so allow for that when choosing where to start. The park’s entrances and paths make it possible to plan a shorter visit or connect your walk with a wider route.
