Oakwood Park lies in Southgate, with approaches from Oakwood Park Road, Saxon Way, Prince George Avenue and Sheringham Avenue. It is one of the parks in Enfield. Enfield Council gives its address as Oakwood Park Road, Southgate, London N14 6QB. The park covers 25.85 hectares and is owned by the London Borough of Enfield.

The park’s name comes from Oak Lodge, a former house on the estate that was demolished. Its public-park story began in 1927, when Southgate Urban District Council purchased land for it; the park opened to the public in 1929.

The park offers a mix of open green space, play and sport, with an avenue of Scarlet Oak trees among its defining features. Facilities include tennis courts, a café, a playground, a pond for model boats, pitch and putt and grassland.

The London Gardens Trust records toilets and a multi-use games area among the facilities. For a quieter pause, the pond has a connection to the park’s model-yachting past: it is gradually being transformed into a wildlife area by the Friends of Oakwood Park.

The park’s landscape has developed over time. An avenue of poplars commemorates the coronation of King George VI, while successive mayors of Edmonton planted Scarlet Oaks gradually from 1945.
